The purpose of The Delavan United Methodist Church is to invite, to win over, and to nurture persons in their growth as Disciples of Jesus Christ;
We believe we are called to intentionally teach the faith made known to us in Jesus Christ in such a way as to produce faith in and love for God and compassion and concern for others. We are to bring each person into an awareness of how he/she can best use the talents and abilities God has given them in their own unique ministry.
We believe this faith can only be fully known in relationship with others. We are invited to reach out to all persons regardless of race, color, sex, age, or economic status.
All Christians are called to witness to their faith and serve as those who minister to their fellows. Only as we share our faith do we grow in it.
We prayerfully seek God's direction as we attempt to witness to these values:
1) All persons are of value to God and therefore to us;
2) The Bible is the core of our teaching and is relevant to the lives of all persons;
3) Every baptized Christian is a witness and is called to be a minister of Jesus Christ;
4) The Christian faith is ever growing; going on to perfection.
